The Big Meeting

I've been back from Scotland for a week or two now. I've been into the Mining Institute too. But I haven't really managed to get back to this blog until now.
But have I got so much work to share. It's amazing what you can create and fulfil once you put your mind to it. It's really amazing how things take shape, once you commit time and effort.
The Big Meeting refers to the Durham Gala. I've created a film around that event after my experience of it this year.
I've also decided to call the end of project exhibition, The Big Meeting. This exhibition will take place from Monday 5 January - Friday 30 January 2009, across the Mining Institute and The Lit and Phil. The title came about through the experience of researching the mining industry but also to reflect the different art forms, ideas and themes that I have explored throughout the residency and how these pieces are coming together to form the exhibition.
During this exhibition, I will also attempt the show the films, or more accurately the photo montages I have also created during this project. I have to work this out though first as the films are accompanied with music and the aim is not to disrupt the usual everyday activities of the places. So it's a work in process at the moment.
Also on the evening of Wednesday 14 January 2009, I will be reading from the poetry collection created during this residency. Some of the poems I have posted here on this blog. But I have created a lot more since. The collection is called SEAM. This is where I started from, my interest in the sedimentary layers of coal. And this is where I will finish.
